Portes du Soleil (famous in winter for
ski holidays) is known as one of the best mountain biking areas in the world, with resorts such as Chatel, Champery, Morgins, Les Gets, and Morzine.
Chatel is in the very heart of the Portes du Soleil and is fast becoming known as THE destination for mountain bike holidays. The mountain bike area in Chatel boasts more Downhill tracks, North shore, and Bike Parks than anywhere else in the Portes du Soleil including resorts such as Morzine and Les Gets. Whether you like the freedom of the 1000+ km of XC Mountain Bike routes, or the superb purpose built downhill tracks and bike parks, all served by the massive network of ski lifts, Châtel will challenge your riding to a whole different level..
Your experienced hosts will be on hand throughout your stay, to advise you of the best routes and answer any queries you have. We will be more than happy to arrange professional mountain bike guiding, mountain bike lessons, or even a bike maintenance lesson for you if you fancy a day or afternoon off. We can also arrange your bike hire and lift passes if required.
Our chalet, Chalet Simplet, is a very modern and spacious Alpine chalet. It can sleep up to 12 people in 5 very spacious bedrooms and has a well equipped garage to store and work on your bikes, and of course a superb outdoor hot tub to help those aching limbs!
Picture your favourite UK single track...now imagine it 10 times longer and 10 times as varied, snaking through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Now just imagine that you don't even have to ride up hill in order to come down!

During the summer the vast network of Portes du Soleil ski lifts are converted to carry you and your bike to the top of the mountains, meaning that hundreds of miles of Alpine single track is on offer without ever having to ride uphill....unless of course you want to!
There are a whole host of Pro events taking place in Chatel throughout the summer. Events such as the Châtel Mountain Style, The Passportes du Soleil, and the downhill world cup.
