Chatel and The Portes du Soleil offer some of the best MTB trails anywhere in the world. The portes du soleil area is made up of several villages in France and Switzerland including Chatel, Morgins, Les Gets, and Morzine, all linked by a massive network of ski lifts that are adapted in summer to carry Mountain bikes. Just an hour and 15 minutes from Geneva airport Châtel is the most central village in the Portes du Soleil and has some of the best and most challenging downhill in the area. Chatel is on the door step of hundreds of miles of cross country trails and singletrack. Just minutes from the door of the chalet you will be cruising through fantastic scenery, along ever changing tracks and trails, riding that will push your skills to a whole new level! Whether downhill, XC, Freeride, or just getting out and about on your bike is what you're after, Europe's best mountain bike area has it all!

Châtel is fast becoming famous for its excellent downhill, and the fact that it is one of the most challenging areas in the world! The downhill European cup final is held here, along with big events such as the Chatel mountain style (see the video above!) and the Passportes du Soleil. Downhillers can also cruise across the border into Switzerland, just minutes away, and enjoy the fantastic downhill runs in neighbouring Morgins.

Pre la Joux is the main starting point in Chatel, and it's lifts give access to the many DH tracks, bike parks, and North Shore areas, as well as to the rest of the Portes du Soleil area. From here you can ride the miles and miles of singletrack, and technical trails winding their way through the French and Swiss Alps. Your experienced hosts will be more than happy to accompany you for a days ride to help you get the best from this fantastic area.

At the end of your ride Chatel village has some fantastic bars and restaurants for the all important recovery, Your hosts will also be happy to help you get the best from these....

Bike Hire & Travelling With Your Bike
Easyjet charge about £30 to bring your own bike on the plane. If you do bring your own bike remember to pack it in a suitable bike bag or box before arriving at the airport, the airport will not have anything to pack it in, and a lot of people have told us that the airlines are quite unhelpful if bikes are not packed properly.
Remember also to let the air out of your tyres and shocks to prevent them going pop on the plane!
We have a well equiped garage so don't worry too much about packing heavy tools unless they're specific to your bike, just bring what you usually take out on the trail.
