Welcome to Chatel
Portes du Soleil
Chatel and The Portes du Soleil is a mountain bike riders playground. The area is made up of several villages in France and Switzerland all linked by a massive network of ski lifts that are adapted in summer to carry Mountain bikes. Châtel is the most central village in the Portes du Soleil and has some of the best and most challenging downhill runs in the area. Chatel boasts more permanent DH tracks than any other resort in the Portes du Soleil, including the likes of Morzine and Les Gets.
Whether downhill, XC, Freeride, or just getting out and about on your bike is what you're after, there really is no better place to come.

During summer all thoughts in Chatel turn to mountain biking.  The village converts its ski lifts and buses to carry mountain bikes, and teams of specially trained staff are employed to maintain the miles of well kept tracks and trails.  The staff patrol the area on bikes and are on hand to help and advise riders.

Châtel is fast becoming known for its large number of well kept downhill tracks, and the fact that it is one of the most challenging areas in the Portes du Soleil! The downhill world cup is regularly held here, along with big events such as the Chatel mountain style, and the Passportes du Soleil.

Pre la Joux is the main starting point and it's lifts give access to the many DH tracks, bike parks, and North Shore areas, as well as to the rest of the Portes du Soleil area. From here you can take half or full day
XC trips to Switzerland, Morgins, Avoriaz, Morzine, or Les Gets along some of the most scenic natural singletrack imaginable...

  The possibilities really are endless

And at the end of your ride Pre la Joux have a free bike wash area to clean off your bikes.

Your friendly and experienced hosts will be on hand throughout your stay to offer advice and share their local knowledge with you on this fantastic area.
